Yeah, I suck at this…

So I know you all got an email with a partial blog post an my big announcement. (Which you now know about, but not all the awesome details.) I accidentally hit PUBLISH instead of SAVE. Honestly, WordPress? There’s no “Are you sure you want to PUBLISH this now?” pop-up?! No? It’s just me, then? Okay fine. Whatever.

Anyway, I apologize for the ridiculous email. The whole thing is going to be a little anti-climactic at this point, but I promise you there’s plenty more to tell you when I finally get this blog post crap figured out.

Thanks for putting up with me and my blogging incompetency.

Ciao for now, bellas!

Summer Signing Schedule. Also, an Author & a Gentleman.

Hello, my little turtle doves! Long time, no talkie. Wanna know the because why? I’ve been out-of-my-mind cray-zay biz-zay! “But, Gina,” you say, “how can you always be so busy when you’re never releasing any books?!” Ah, yes, of course. That’s a very good point, and here are a smattering of reasons for that:

  • According to Guinness Book of World Records, I’m the slowest writer ever to have writ in the history of writing.
  • I’ve spent time back-packing across Alaska as an experiment to see if I spend enough time in the harsh winter conditions, I’d actually start to enjoy snow, ice, and freezing my ass off. (The answer is NO, btw.)
  • While working on Sweet Victory, book 4 in the Fighting for Love series, I was offered two very amazing opportunities that I couldn’t pass up. Which meant putting SV on hold for a little while. The good news is…
    • 1. I was asked to be a part of the Brenda Novak Sweet Talk contemporary box set which is releasing MAY 1st and will raise money for the Diabetes Research Institute (all proceeds go to the charity). I’ve written a second-chance at love/friends to lovers novella called Ask Me Again that’s loosely based on my youngest sister’s experiences leading up to her Happy Ever After. I’m happy to say she’s finally tying the knot on May 30th! *throws bird seed*
    • 2. I can’t really say anything yet (details are being ironed out), however I will have some very exciting news very soon for all my readers who have a thing for hot 1st responders who wear suspenders while handling their huge hoses. *wink wink*
  • I’m actually a closet sadist and feel compelled to torture my readers by drawing out the time between release dates as long as possible. (Sorry!)
  • I had, like, 5 complete books ready to publish, but my dog ate them.

Now, while you may think I’m pulling some April Fools jokes on you, those are my bullshit excuses stories and I’m stickin’ to ’em. 😉 But don’t worry, faithful readers, you’ll get Ask Me Again in a month and Sweet Victory before the year is out.

Onto news about signings for 2015. I’ll be appearing at 5 multi-author events this year. I’ve previously announced my attendance for:

  1. WisRWA Write Touch Conference, Milwaukee, WI, April 24-26. (Signing is the night of the 24th.)
  2. Romantic Times (RT) Convention, Dallas, TX, May 13-18. (Signing is on the 17th.)
  3. Love N. Vegas Signing, Las Vegas, NV, July 17-19. (Signing is on the 18th.)
  4. Reader/Writer Roundup Signing, Houston, TX, October 9-11. (Signing is on the 10th. No website link for this as of yet.)

Also, this coming Tuesday April 7th, if any of you are in the Naperville, IL area, I’ll be participating in a Lady Jane’s Salon romance reading. Five other romance writers and I will be reading a section from one of our books and then selling/signing books after. It’ll be an intimate setting and a great opportunity to get quality time with readers. Check the link for the info.

And now, to add the cherry on top of the conference sundae made of pure awesome, I’ll also be at the…

Lovely Ladies & Naughty Books Author Event in Atlantic City, June 6th!!!

I’m excited to see Atlantic City; I’ve never been! Anyhoo, my attendance for this event isn’t even the coolest part. It’s who I’m bringing with me that is beyond amazing! Yep, you guessed it (the picture probably gave it away, huh?):

The Venezuelan Gentleman, Franggy Yanez!!!

10600483_664000040385486_2639004345521906296_n   10849826_679944722124351_3328754405211419212_n   10945397_704646192987537_1583715840702747147_n

In case you haven’t heard through the grapevine, I found Franggy on Instagram last year and when I saw the picture on the far left of him in the dog tags, I knew instantly that I had to use him as inspiration for a hero. I’ve been throwing around ideas for a romantic suspense series for a couple of years now and I’m itching to get started on the series as soon as I can. I’ve named the series the G.H.O.S.T. novels (Global High-risk Operators and Special Teams), and Franggy is the inspiration for the leader of the group, former SEAL Macen “Mace” Barnett.

Originally, I’d hoped to have this book done in time for the Sweet Talk box set, but I didn’t want to rush it and do a disservice to the book and Franggy’s character. And due to the #2 thing listed above that I can’t really go into detail about, Mace’s book is being pushed out a little further than planned and will probably not release this year. However, miracles do happen, so you never know. If you pass any wishing wells in your travels, throw a penny in for me, will ya? 😉

So I guess that’s it for now. Make sure you click the FOLLOW ME button at the top of the right sidebar if you want to make sure you get my infrequent and sporadic posts about things going on with my books and appearances. I have lots of stuff in the works and more announcements to make, so you won’t want to miss any of the posts!

Ciao for now, bellas!

Goodbye 2014, Welcome 2015! (or, 17 Minutes of News & Ums)

Seriously, I was not cut out for “off the cuff” speeches. This message can get you the perfect pre-party buzz before you hit the NYE scene tonight. Just take a drink of your preferred alcoholic beverage every time I say “um.” 😉 You’ll either be pleasantly buzzed (for the more experienced drinkers) or totally smashed (for the lightweights like me). Fun times!

All jokes aside, please be careful tonight as you venture into the world to ring in the New Year. Be smart, be safe, and have fun. Thank you for spending 2014 with me. I can’t wait to do it again in 2015. Ciao, bellas! *mwah*

Desires of the Soul: Release Date Pushed Back (I’m so sorry!)

DesiresoftheSoul_mockup_blueeyesI regret to announce that the release date for book one of my paranormal romance series, Desires of the Soul, has been pushed back. I had originally planned on releasing it today, December 30th, but things have altered my writing schedule such that I’ve been unable to work on DotS to get it to the finished stage for release.

Technically, I know I could release it as it is right now and a lot of people would love it, and it’s possible it might even do okay with sales. But it’s far from being at the level I feel I’m known for, and what I know I’m capable of. Being that this is my first impression in the paranormal genre, it’s important that I get it right, but it’s also extremely important to me that I give my readers the absolute best story I can, because that’s what you deserve from me.

I should have made this announcement a few weeks ago when I realized the situation, but I’ve been so consumed with the priority shift in my projects (not to mention the fast approaching holiday season) that I completely forgot until I just saw a post promoting DotS as a new release. (O_o) Ruh-roh! (>_<)

i-m-sorry-meme-generator-i-am-so-sorry-6cb84eI’ll be posting a video (either today or tomorrow) here on the blog, as well as plastering it all over FB, Twitter, IG, etc. I’ll be making some New Year’s resolutions to my readers, talking about some great things to come in 2015, and hinting at some even greater things that I’m not at liberty to disclose as of yet. I’ll also be doing more groveling and apologizing for this release catastrophe that I’ve created with my paranormal series, because the depth of my regret and frustration demands it. Plus, I’ll try to explain exactly why this type of thing happens in this industry, and with me more than most.

Again, I’m sorry for letting you down. My readers mean everything to me, and it kills me when I disappoint you. You already have to wait so long between my releases, so this sort of thing only makes it a thousand times worse. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that you stay loyal to me despite my shortcomings as an author.

With literary love,

Gina Leigh ❤

SWEET VICTORY: Cast Your Votes!

Hey, everyone! I need your opinions on something for book 4 of my Fighting for Love series, Sweet Victory.

This book is scheduled to release sometime in March (God willing) and is Xander’s story! If you don’t know who Xander is, then you haven’t read Fighting for Irish (book 3). If you rectify that, you’ll understand why readers are chomping at the bit for this fighter’s story. He’s not only wickedly funny, but you catch glimpses that make you think he might just be plain wicked in the best of ways!

Xander James is a Yorkshire, England native in the States trying to prove to himself and his disapproving father that he can be a successful MMA fighter. An injury took him out of the game just as his career had been taking off, but he worked his ass off to recover and then put himself through the brutal world of underground fighting to get where he is now. He’s only one win away from getting his shot in a UFC octagon again, and he can’t afford any distractions. But he hadn’t counted on meeting anyone like Sophie Caldwell, the sassy owner of the little cupcake bakery across from his apartment building and sexy as hell with her tattoos and classic pinup look. Now he’s finding excuses to go into her shop despite not being able to eat a single thing in the place just so he can spend time with her.

I need you help in naming Sophie’s cupcake bakery! I received so many awesome suggestions from the members of my Maxwell Mob and now I need help narrowing it down to the Top 3 favorites! I’m leaving this poll open until this Saturday, November 29th at 11:59 pm CST. Once I see what the results are, I may pull rank and choose my favorite that I think fits best, or, if it’s super close and I can’t bring myself to choose, I’ll throw up another poll and let YOU pick your absolute favorite!

I have it set up so that you can only cast your votes one time (unless you can beat the system by using different devices, I’m not sure, but it’s not that big of a deal), but you can share the poll or link people to this blog post as much as you want. So go ahead and PICK YOUR THREE (3) FAVORITE NAMES!
